So you made your first ever massage therapy appointment, now what?
Let me explain exactly how a massage at my office will go!
First off, here are a few tips for your massage: (As time allows, of course.)
Take a relaxing bath or shower before your massage appointment time.
Limit consumption stimulants, for example: caffeine.
Avoid eating immediately before your massage.
Allow extra time in your schedule so you don’t have to rush to be ready for your appointment, especially because you will have some paperwork to fill out.
Before your appointment:
Please arrive fifteen minutes (15) early to your appointment.
Why? I require you to complete an intake form and a couple of minutes to review it with you. (Think of it as an interview between you and I.) We will also get you to pay for your appointment before to make it easier for the office ladies.
This is the best time to ask me any questions concerning anything about your health and well being, as well as any questions concerning our time together in the session.
Also, please understand that I need to know all medications you are currently taking, and any you have taken in the previous year as this is really important.
If you are expecting something specific from your massage, please make sure that this is communicated to me as well. For instance, if you have been having a lot of tightness in your right shoulder, and you’d like some extra attention given to it, tell me. If you prefer a lighter or deeper pressure, please let me know! If you have an injured area or a tender spot, please inform me before or during your massage!
COMMUNICATION IS KEY!
I will then leave the room to allow you to undress and make yourself comfortable on the table. While you get comfortable I will wash my hands. Before I come back into the office, I will ask you if it is okay if I come back in or not. Then I will begin the treatment!
During the treatment, you will be always be completely draped for your modesty and comfort at all times. You will never feel “exposed” during your massage with me, but if you do, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
After the end of the treatment, I will leave the room, so you can take your time getting up and dressed while I go wash my hands. Once you are completely dressed, I ask that you open the door, so I can then walk you back to the front of the office to rebook your next appointment.
