ALL ABOUT: Facial Cupping

Updated: May 11, 2024

What kind of cups do you use for your treatments?

I actually use two different types! The first are specially designed silicone cups that are soft and flexible to ensure gentle suction. The other are a bulb-style facial cups that allow for more precise control.

What is facial cupping?

Facial cupping is a non-invasive therapy that involves using small suction cups to massage the face and neck, promoting circulation, lymphatic drainage, and relaxation.

What are the benefits of facial cupping?

Facial cupping can help to rejuvenate the skin by reducing puffiness, improving circulation, and promoting a healthy glow. It may also help to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce inflammation, and relieve tension in the facial muscles.

Is facial cupping painful?

Facial cupping is typically not painful, although some individuals may experience mild discomfort or temporary redness during or after the treatment. However, the suction should be gentle and should not cause any lasting discomfort.

Will I bruise like a normal cupping massage?

It is unlikely, but still possible. Being that our faces have a different type of skin, it seems to be rare that the typical bruising happens.

What should I wear for a facial cupping massage?

For a facial cupping massage, it's best to wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your face, neck and arms. Loose-fitting tops or shirts with a wide neckline are ideal, as they allow the practitioner to access your neck and shoulders without restriction. I will ask to remove any jewelry, hair accessories, or makeup from your face before the treatment to ensure optimal contact with the cups.

For my male clients: Please shave your face prior to this treatment.

How many sessions do you recommend?

However many you want. However if you're trying to go for the natural facelift benefit, I do recommend 6 sessions of facial cupping for that desired effect.

How long is each facial cupping session?

Initial treatment is 45 minutes, and every session after that is 30 minutes.

Can you teach me how to do this myself?

Yes! Coming soon I will be offering a certification class for other health care providers, or I can teach you one on one, more details to come.
