ALL ABOUT: Trigger Point Therapy

What is trigger point therapy?

Trigger point therapy is a type of massage therapy that targets specific areas of tight muscle fibers, known as trigger points, which can cause pain and discomfort in other parts of the body.

I apply pressure to the trigger points, which helps to release the tightness and alleviate pain. This pressure can be applied using fingers, knuckles, elbows, and even some specialized tools and tricks.

  • Pain relief: Helps relieve pain in the affected area and in referred pain areas.

  • Increased range of motion: Loosens tight muscles, leading to improved flexibility.

  • Improved circulation: Enhances blood flow to the affected area, promoting healing.

  • Stress reduction: Relieves tension and stress in the muscles, leading to overall relaxation.

Trigger points are sensitive areas of tight muscle fibers that form in muscles due to injury, overuse, or stress. They can cause referred pain, meaning pain felt in another part of the body.

Similar to deep, therapeutic work it can be initially. If that's the case, please don't be afraid to tell me, I will not take offence.

Probably, yes! Anyone experiencing muscle pain, tension, or discomfort can benefit from this treatment.

Feeling sore is a completely normal experience! But I always recommend these four things:

  1. Hydrate!

  2. Apply heat or cold, or a combination of both! (More likely a combo of both, tbh!)

  3. Rest!

  4. Gentle stretching may be helpful.

Easy peasy! Book for however long you want, and include in the notes you would like specific treatment to the trigger points in a specific area, or you can always tell me when we do our consult.
