What are some of the benefits of pre-natal massage?

Just a few benefits of pregnancy massage include:

  • A natural, safe, and drug-free way to reduce aches and pains.

  • An increase in circulation, boosting oxygen and nutrient levels to both mother and baby while helping to stabilise blood pressure and regulate hormone levels.

  • A release of endorphins – the body’s natural feel good chemicals, which promote relaxation, stress relief and aids more restful sleep.

  • Enjoyable time to deeply relax and connect with your baby.

I'm in my first trimester, can I still get a massage?

YES! There are very few (if any) reasons why a pregnant woman couldn’t be massaged during all phases of pregnancy. Many massage therapists choose not to massage during the first trimester due to the  increased risk of miscarriage. It’s so incredibly unlikely that the miscarriage could be due to the massage that I’ve never once heard of it happening.  Of course many massage therapists don’t want to risk it, in the fear that a grieving mother might blame the massage they received.  In my opinion that just increases fear unnecessarily. Massage can be great for calming nerves (literally and figuratively 😊), and helping a momma relax during a time of profound change.

Is pre-natal massage safe?

Yes! It sure is! Especially with the additional training I've taken.

What should I wear?

Same as normal massage, whatever you feel comfortable in! As always, only what is being worked on will be exposed at a time.

My pregnancy is considered high risk, is that okay?

Yes! My only request is for you to bring in a doctor's note.

How often should I come in for massages during my pregnancy?

However often you want! Your body is changing so often, it is totally your call!
