What is pediatric massage?
Pediatric massage is a therapeutic and gentle form of massage specifically tailored for children.
What age group is pediatric massage suitable for?
As soon as a child is over a year, they are considered eligible for pediatric massage all the way up to 16 years old.
Is pediatric massage suitable for all children?
Yes! Should you be unsure, please feel free to reach out.
What do you require from me, the parent/guardian?
I require you to fill out the intake form and consent form on their behalf. I also require you to be in the room for the first treatment together. As time progresses, as well as the child's age we can discuss having you in the building, instead of in the room with us.
Is pediatric massage safe?
Yes! Children have different massage needs compared to an adult, so pediatric massage is a great tool for them!
What are some of the benefits of getting massages for my child?
Paediatric massage offers relief from muscle tension due to stress, growing pains, or athletics by using gentle techniques. Massage also stimulates several core systems in your body, including the musculoskeletal, digestive, circulatory, nervous, immune, and endocrine systems.
What is the difference between pediatric massage and a regular therapeutic/relaxation massage?
The big difference of course is age. Another smaller difference would be the pressure used. Just like massages for adults, pediatric massage is all about the child and their preferences.
My kid has been experiencing anxiety, is this something that would help?
Yes, absolutely! Studies show that massage therapy can decrease the anxiety in a child by about 30%.
How can I help prepare my child for a massage appointment?
Explain the process: Depending on the child’s age, talk to them about what to expect in simple, reassuring terms.
Choose comfortable clothing: Dress your child in loose, comfortable clothes.
Bring comfort items: For younger children, bring a favorite toy or blanket for added security.
Make it a positive experience: Encourage your child to see the session as a relaxing and fun experience, not something to be nervous about
Assure them: For the first few sessions, till your child is comfortable you can assure them you will be in the room during sessions.
How often should I get my child a massage?
Similar to yourself, as often as you wish! Some parents decide to make a morning (or afternoon) of it, where they get their massage and then their kid goes next, or vice versa.
