Top 5: Ways to Avoid Those Summer Injuries

It's finally here! Summer time! After what felt like a longer than normal winter, we're finally here! There's nothing wrong with wanting to make the most of an already short summer. However, sometimes our great summer plans bring injuries along with them. Luckily for you, there are a few easy steps to avoid those dreaded injuries.

Balance it out: Going from zero to sixty, and back to zero the next 6 days is a lot for just about any body. The best way to avoid summer injuries is to keep a steady pace, or at least make sure you are stretching plenty too!

Equip yourself: Even though you used to have to wear your brother's bike helmet, or use your dads old baseball glove back in the day, doesn't mean its a good idea to do that today. Using equipment that doesn't quite fit the way it should can case discomfort, worsen performance, or even injure you.

Act your age: Lets face it, you're not 18 anymore, chances are your body has changed over the years. Remember what I said about balancing it out, that takes place here too!

Warm up, cool down: This is one of those tips you've heard so much you may have started to tune it out. Cold muscles jumping into action creates a huge risk for injury though if you warm up, the rate of injury reduces considerably. Cooling down after the activity with a little stretching can also go along way in the way of avoiding injuries.

Remember to get frequent tune ups: Whether it be, regular massage therapy, regular chiropractic care, or even both. Everything will be helped out when you keep those appointments up.
